Week 8 – Operation Blackall 100 – Challenge to Ring the Bell

Do you realise how difficult it can be to blog about your training!? I mean I get up, train, eat, work for the day, yoga a couple of times a week, eat and sleep again. It doesn’t make for entertaining blogging.

I decided to blog to keep myself accountable after a period of not training and being well in short bloody lazy. Now I am hitting most of my runs and sessions but this is week eight and I am getting stronger but I am also having troubles.

I have been having some stomach issues – again! Not on the run (thank god!) but with bloating after meals and this makes for life being uncomfortable. I never used to have such issues with food but during my IRONMAN they started. Before anyone states it is because I am plant-based I was still eating meat and dairy – lots of it – while I did my IRONMAN. This past week I think it has to do with eating lots of processed carbs rather than whole foods. Back to the whole-food plant-based eating which means that my food budget just increased.

But what did last weeks training look like.

Not really sure what happened to Monday’s session it kind of got lost….. I didn’t run on Saturday because when I woke up it was torrential rain and later that day when I went to go it was again torrential rain with lightening! Now I know that running in all weather conditions is good training you can bite it if you think I am running with lightening cracking overhead in a foreign country where I will admit I don’t know the emergency number. I like to put my safety first.

I am very glad I did because on Sunday when I hit the trails I actually hit the trails rather than the road. Penang Hill has many trails that I have basically only just discovered! How did I miss them! 1 mile took me 25 minute which tells you how steep and step filled part of the climb is. I didn’t take too many photos but you can be assured this weekend when I am out there enjoying the trails I will!

So this week is a pretty big week. In fact when I read it I was like oh that is going to hurt!
