Week 4 – Operation Blackall 100 – Challenge to Ring the Bell

Firstly sorry this post is going up a day late – both my coach and I are Australian Army Veterans and yesterday was ANZAC Day so that took precedent over blogging.

But back to my better week! I managed to log a very substantial training week and my body is feeling very good! Note the swimming just hasn’t happened over the last 2 weeks. It would take me 2 hours to get to the pool, the reviews are poor for the actual pool and the water near where I am – pollution and disgusting!!!!

But the rest of it has been actually really good and I will put this down to a couple of things:

  • Yin Yoga! As most of you will know I love my Yin Yoga and I think it is the perfect complement to any endurance athletes bag of tricks!
  • Positive eating! I have been eating fairly well and feeling very good about what is going in my body. That said I am wondering if I have have a couple more sensitives with food than I realised – see picture below!
  • Realising how much I care about my goals and my body. So I had a bit of a realisation that while my race goals only really mean a lot to a few people but they are also important to my well-being. I have found that by having crazy goals and achieving them I flourish in other areas of my life. I guess you could say I am more in-balance when I am training for something crazy! Caring about my body is not about if I have no cellulite or the perfect butt but it is about knowing I am treating my body well. It is my temple and it loves to be healthy!
  • Spending most of my runs focusing on technique and using my running time as meditative time!

So what does this week look like:

As you can see I have already done a massive hike to commemorate ANZAC Day. What you don’t know is that I walked another 4-5km afterwards trying to find somewhere to get a pedicure! No pedicure but I do have a blister and I am pretty sure my feet hate me! The rest of the week is lower in volume but I have to say a 7km effort is freaking me out but today is Tuesday so just focusing on that!

Check out the weather though!! OMG I hate humidity but it is giving me an excuse to drink extra coconut water!!
