Forgive me for my absence! Last night as I sit in Ubud, Bali enjoying a Kampung Girl juice at the The Onion Collective after a fantastic day (run, study, lunch, yoga, writing) about to go to dinner with another digital nomad, I finally got around to writing a blog post.
How to explain my absence! Well it wasn’t that I didn’t want to write but it was more that I was working on a contract that had a “gag” clause oh I mean confidentially clause. I made the very conscious choice not to blog very much. I was afraid that I would say too much about where I worked and potentially find myself being terminated. Not cool so in the end I didn’t blog. The best way to explain where I was is on this blog post Essential Travel Guide to Nauru by Lee Abbamonte. Lee did a fantastic job of explaining Nauru and a little bit of the politics of the asylum seeker’s being processed on the Australian run Regional Processing Centre. During my time there I worked for Save the Children and after 18 months there I can say with complete conviction that I never want to visit Nauru again OR work in a government run facility. It was soul and heart destroying.
That said, I did enjoy my time in many other respects. I entered and finished an IRONMAN triathlon, the Great Wall of China Marathon and traveled to Cambodia with my mother for one of my best holidays ever. I developed some amazing friendships with my colleagues and other service providers. I also discovered what I do and don’t want in the relationship and professional spheres of my life.
Since finishing my contract on the 23 Oct, life has gone back to adventure, travel and spirituality. I attended a 10 day silent Vipassana Meditation Retreat, my cousins wedding and then jetted off to Bali. Sadly during this time I also lost the love of my life. My little Jack Russel, Jenna, AKA Skinny Dog that had been the love of my life for 12 years. My heart broke but my family and friends (both old and new) helped me cope and then set off on a long planned journey of travel and adventure. It is where I want to be.
I am required back in Australia on the 3 Sep 16 for a very special event (more to come later on that) so over the next nine months I am going to visit: Indonesia (Bali), Malaysian Borneo, Brunei, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, Laos, Myanmar and India! Which will take my country list to a total of 56 countries. I will also be doing my first ultra marathon – Davao50, god willing and completing a long list of studies and work goals.
I shared the first 4 days with a lovely friend, Misty in Legian and now settling into a life in Ubud surrounded by likeminded people. What could go wrong? LOL Everything and anything! So I guess I am just keeping it in the day. My days will be filled with running, yoga, good food, writing and study! Makes my heart happy!!
I am looking forward to sharing my travel, fitness and adventure stories with you again. Love and life on the road! So if you are an old reader, sorry for being absent and for the new reader: strap yourself in cause it will be a rollercoaster of love, life and laughs!!
