The ancient art of threading always sounded rather painful and so I avoided it like the plague despite first having travel to the Middle East nearly 9 years ago. In fact my eyebrows had been so over plucked and over waxed that I tended not to go anywhere near anybody with any ideas of touching my eyebrows. Though to the rest of the world that don’t frequent Middle Eastern or Far East Asian salons threading is no doubt a mystery. The fact I didn’t ask for threading and received it was a toe curling moment.
So just what is threading. Threading is the art of using a twisted cotton thread, in which the practitioner using a rolling motion over the offending hair on the face and other areas of unwanted hair, skilfully removes the hair at the follicle level. Threading is unique from tweezing in that it can remove an entire row of hair rather than single hairs one at a time. This results in a straighter neater line. Though like waxing as a larger area of hair is removed at once, however, it can be relatively painful.
Well was it painful? I have had worse pain just kicking my toe so therefore it wasn’t painful at all. The sound if anything, which sounds like ripping material, was probably the more chilling part of whole experience. Actually scratch that, the walking through Dubai Mall with really red skin around my eyes was the most chilling part! Now I am not normally a glamour queen but walking though Fashion Avenue looking like I decided to paint my skin red due looks but nothing like the stunning glamour looks I got Thursday night!
One thing is for sure, my eyebrows look much more stylish and groomed than the hippy look I had been mastering over the years. Strangely I have to thank Napoleon Hill for my latest beauty treat. Studying his books about business has me wanting to look my best for business has resulted in a haircut and my eyebrows done. Amazing what self-development of my business side has resulted in, me getting a style of beauty treatment that I avoided for 9 years. You just never know what life will bring!
